Japan Ways Karate-Do Demonstrations
Have you wondered what traditional Japanese Shotokan karate is, or how it differs from other martial arts? Or perhaps you have wanted to know how it is taught at Japan Ways Dojo. Now would be an excellent time to find out. Japan Ways Dojo has three different events coming up soon where students and instructors from the dojo will demonstrate their art. All events are free to the public. Wong Sensei, Chief Instructor at Japan Ways Dojo, extends his invitation for you to come see us at any of the following three demonstrations.
Dojo Demonstration Group
Students who would like to help with our dojo demonstration group, please contact Sensei Wong. Upcoming events are April 18th (Shizen Blossom Festival), 24th (Dojo Demo), and 25th (Asian Fest).
Next Rank Tests
Rank Test for 10th-4th Kyu will be on Saturday, May 9th at noon. Recommendation slips will be given out this month.
Rank Test for Brown Belts (3rd - 1st Kyu) will be held on Saturday May 30th at noon.
Hanshi Jonathan Kwok Seminars
Jonathan Kwok, 8th Dan, Hanshi and Chief Instructor for SKI-USF will be returning to Fresno on May 16th for Instructor Training Class then to San Jose on the17th.
Memorial Day
The dojo will be closed on May 25th for Memorial Day.
Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa USA Tour
Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa will be returning to California June 15th thru the 22nd for his USA tour. Details will be posted as they become available.
Japan Ways Dojo Annual BBQ
The Dojo annual BBQ is tentatively scheduled for June 27th.
Fremont Shotokan Karate Annual "Kuro-Obi" Tournament
The Fremont Shotokan Karate Dojo is holding their annual "Kuro-Obi" Black Belt Only Tournament starting at 10am on Sunday, May 3rd. This tournament is limited to black belts ages 15 and older. Reminder: kumite mits/gloves and mouth piece should be brought to EVERY class.

- Saturday April 18 - Shinzen Blossom Festival at the Shinzen Gardens at Woodward park. Demo starts at 3 PM (more information about the Shinzen Blosson Festival here)
- Friday April 24th Friday - Saroyan Elementary School, 5650 W. Escalon, Fresno. Demo starts at 7:00pm.
- Saturday April 25th - Asian Fest at Fresno City College. Kata begins at 9:30am in the gymnasium and Japan Ways demo in the grassy area around 11 AM.
