Technical Excellence Class for Brown Belts
This class is open to brown belts only and will focus on curriculum needed for Ik Kyu and Shodan. This class series will be offered once per month and the series will end in October. The date of the July class will be posted here soon.
Instructors' Class
Instructors' Class will be held at 12:00 noon on June7th (Saturday). All Japan Ways black belts are welcome to attend, however the class will be geared towards teaching. Instructors, assistant instructors and those wanting to become assistants must attend. See Sensei Wong if you have any questions.
Kancho and Sensei Fumitoshi Kanazawa Seminars
Kancho Kanazawa and Sensei Fumitoshi Kanazawa will be teaching in Fresno on Monday June 16th for evening classes. Mark your calendar for this special class by these world famous instructors who will be traveling from Japan. Class times will be posted shortly, please sign up early as space is limited. Women's Self Defense
Japan Ways will be holding a self defense course for women on June 20th, Friday evening. If you are interested in helping out with this event, please contact Sempai Darrin Nichols.
Dojo Holiday Schedule
The dojo will be closed on Monday, May 26th in observation of Memorial Day and on Friday July 4th for Independence Day.
Next Rank Test
The next rank test will be held on July 26th at 9 AM. Please note: this test will start earlier than our regular 12 PM start time. All students testing for rank must be at the dojo, in their gi, and ready to test 15 minutes before the test is scheduled to begin.
Annual Dojo Barbeque
Dojo Annual BBQ will be held on July 26th from 5pm to 9 pm. More details to follow. All active as well as inactive members and their families are welcome.
Required Safety Gear
A reminder that beginning June, all students must bring mouth guards and kumite hand guards to each class. All males must wear athletic cups. If you do not have the safety gear, you will be asked to sit during kumite drill and training.
Sensei Robert Halliburton Memorial
Thanks to all of the students and Yudansha who participated in the Sensei Halliburton Memorial and Dojo Heritage event held on April 16th. I hope all students learned about their lineage, heritage, as well as their instructors' past sensei.
